WANTED: Foley Artist Sound Recordist

Raquelle David is looking for a Foley Artist/Sound Recordist for her MA short film “Love Letters”, a horror/thriller about a woman who brings to life her lost love by crafting him out of love letters, with dire consequences. The short film will be photographed by Award winning cinematographer, Shing Fung Cheung and relies heavily on soundscape as it is dialogue-free.

You will be working with a professional sound mixer/designer. This will be a brilliant opportunity for a graduate or current student to test their skills, gain experience and work with a professional crew.

**Deadline is 20 November 2009, so you would need to be available from late-October 2009 to be involved in the project.

My film is called ‘Cops & Robbers’ and takes a childlike re-imagining of Australia’s colonial history, mixing slapstick with dry wit and high adventure. Think Laurel & Hardy as a Spaghetti Western with a touch of the Conchords/Boosh. We are Filming in early October and looking for a Sound Designer interested in testing their skills and range from the subtle to the explosive. I am Producing a short film called “Love Letters” shooting in October. Its a four minute psychological drama about a woman who brings to life her love by crafting him out of old love letters.

I am looking for a student to come on board as Sound Recordist and Sound Mixer/Editor.

I have an AFTRS student on board composing the score as well as an experienced sound effects person.

This could be a great opportunity for an audio production student to have their skills tested, credited and added to their reel. The concept is highly visual with strong emphasis on soundscape, so I think it would be a very exciting project for a sound student.

This early clip shows Brian Eno playing both the VCS-3/TR-606 Modular synthesizer and a bank of tape recorders. The tape recorder enabled him to manipulate sound he’d recorded, or as Paul Morley suggests,
“ ….. enables him to tape things from out there. Eventually he would own 31 tape recorders. His early fascination with this ability to actually hold in place, mess about with and keep for all time something as ethereal as sound hints at all his future work. He records therefore he is. ……”.
